It's amazing to me that the final joke actually has nothing to do with Annie's STD fair :D I thought that was supposed to be the joke.

I heard somewhere that the writers for community often said something along the lines of "and here Donald says something funny to close out the scene" and now I can't stop noticing it

Could you explain it o me then. I get the innuendo, but I cannot tell if the joke was meant to be funny and there is another meaning I am missing or if my first assumption was correct and it really was not that clever.

10 years after this episode aired, alison brie said in a group interview (in which donald glover was not present) that the joke was originally supposed to go “don’t eat the crab dip- whaaaat?” but they changed it last minute. I’m so glad they did, because the original wouldn’t have been nearly as funny imo.
lmao the joke's a riot but even funnier is that the group had no idea about its context because they're focused on jeff and pierce.

@@Josh0639 He explains it as he's writing it... "maybe something to do with crabs. They're like a food, but also a disease.." Hookers are known to sometimes carry STDs such as crabs. If there is crab dip at an STD fair, and hookers are present, somehow the other type of crabs might get in it.. What else do you need/
